I really love cool looking buildings! Here’s a whole page filled with some pictures of said cool buildings.
This is The Hive at the Nanyang Technological University Singapore. Its features rounded edges that are seemingly made of different slats of wood. At the top of the building, and within the wedges of each “tower,” there are plants that grow and live as part of the building. I’m loving the brutalist-esque rounded towers that make up parts of the building.
This is a mosque in Samarkand, Uzbekistan with beautiful blue tiles and stunning geometric shapes. Here’s a reminder that really cool buildings do not need to be newly built. This city is in southeastern Uzbekistan and among the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Central Asia. Despite how old this mosque is, the design is still beautiful to admire and one can only imagine how much time, effort, and money went into creating this cool building.
As an architect, you design for the present, with an awareness of the past for a future which is essentially unknown
Norman Foster
Below are some selected buildings that also include greenery in their design. This is a rising trend within the architecture world that brings back nature and sustainability to our landscapes. I personally love the feature of plans within building designs.
Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness
Frank Gehry
